UAE Annual Conference 2023
Consistent with our continuous efforts of alerting the industry to current market trends and providing a platform for open industry dialogue, BADRI Management Consultancy conducted its 7th Annual Insurance Conference UAE 2023 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai on November 16, 2023. The event was attended by 140+ people from 55+ different companies including insurers, reinsurers, the Emirates Insurance Association, brokers, audit firms, consulting firms, Medical TPA’s, information technology firms, and other insurance service providers.
The conference commenced with a warm welcome address from Mr. Ali Asghar Bhuriwala, setting the stage for a day of insightful discussions. Mr. Avnit Anand delved into Emerging Risks, focusing on Climate and Cyber Risks in the GCC, followed by Mr. Emad Bin Saleem, CFE’s presentation on ESG Reporting. Sessions on IFRS 17 and high-level benchmarks for Motor and Medical Insurance were presented by Mr. Muhammad Usman Tariq, Mr. Zaheer Ahmad, and Mr. Mirza Muhammad Ali.
Mr. Hasham Piperdy, FIA shared valuable insights into Mergers & Acquisitions, paving the way for discussions on Risk Management Regulations, Trends & Lessons in the UAE Insurance Market by Mr. Navin G.. The presentations concluded with a presentation on Data Governance by Mr. Shahpur Agha, emphasizing the significance of data governance implementation and the necessary steps involved.
The presentation sessions were followed by a CEO panel moderated by Mr. Hatim Maskawala, and the panel included Mr. Gautam Datta (Watania Takaful), Mr. Jason Light (Emirates Insurance Company), Mr. Johnson Varughese (Walaa Cooperative Insurance Co.) and Mr. Walter Jopp (SALAMA – Islamic Arab Insurance Co.). The panelists shared valuable perspectives on Solvency and Sustainability in the UAE and GCC, addressing crucial topics such as mergers and acquisitions, IFRS 17, and solvency and capital requirements. The interactive session saw engaging debates, with the audience contributing thought-provoking questions.
